J.Cole talks about becoming more aware with what happens in the world today, and how he started to understand it more. ![]() But this time, the lyrics aren’t about sadness or love, it’s about how he grew up and changed. Of course, “Change” has a deep meaning, just like every other J.Cole song. “Change” is another song from the album that should be acknowledged. The catchy beat and the inspiring lyrics will definitely make you want to listen to this song over and over again. The lyrics really show how much this girl means to J.Cole, even if she is already taken, and even if he doesn’t believe that his feelings are true love. J.Cole raps about this girl who only goes for certain types of guys, and then says that he could outdo every single one of those men, but only if she gave him another chance. In “Deja Vu”, he talks about love, which, at first, he believes is not real. Like “For Whom The Bell Tolls,” “Deja Vu” has a deep meaning, and is also dramatic. “Deja Vu” has a Bryson Tiller-esque vibe to it, which made it very catchy. The most popular song on the album is “Deja Vu”. It seems like he is looking for something good to happen in his life, and that he is lonely while “putting away his pride”.Įven though “For Whom The Bell Tolls” is a very depressing song, it still sends messages that we should all hear about. If you listen closely to the lyrics, you can hear how he keeps asking, “Ain’t no way to live/ do I wanna die?”, showing thoughts of suicide. J.Cole then talks about having hopelessness, and having nowhere to go. The novel showcased ideas of sadness and suicide, which inspired J.Cole to express these feelings through his lyrics. “For Whom the Bell Tolls” was inspired by a 1940 novel, written by Ernest Hemingway. This may not be the most popular song on the album, but it is definitely worth a listen.“For Whom The Bell Tolls” is very emotional, touching, and has a sad vibe.
